The Giro SLX lace up road shoe has been around since 2015 – 8 years – and doesn’t show any signs of slowing down. Much of their popularity is a result of the minimal design and the ultralight mesh uppers. At a weight of 185g per shoe, these shoes are among the lightest, most breathable, and most comfortable shoes available.

We tested these shoes for the first time in what turned out to be one of the hottest summers in Europe and we can say without a doubt that they are the most breathable shoes we’ve owned. The fit is great – like a slipper – and reminded us of the leather shoes from years ago that molded to the shape of your feet over time. Cyclists with wide feet may find that the Giros are more for narrow to medium feet. Retail price is €300, but there are many offers online in the €200 range.
