Navigating through the Eurobike trade show can be a daunting affair at times with so many brands – new and old – on display. Very often, instead of exploring new brands, one finds oneself pulled towards familiar shores, especially in the latter days of the show, when trade show fatigue sets in. For me, this was the case after 3 days, and as such, it was reassuring to find myself in the familiar red and black waters of the Ducati brand and discover their new road e-bike, the Futa Limited.
This ebike is for the rider who appreciates top shelf. Here’s a description right from the Ducati website:
“A lightweight e-road that embodies the pure Ducati spirit by focusing on design, innovation and fun in a perfect combination of comfort and performance … the new Futa will also be available in a Limited Edition: an exclusive version, only 50 numbered examples, for those looking for an e-road with even more sophisticated standard equipment that makes the bike even lighter.”
While the Futa Limited will set you back €11,990, it appears there are plenty of cyclists willing and able to pay the price. By chance, I met the designer later and he told me that the first batch produced earlier in the year was sold out in no time. If the Futa Limited is a bit a much for your budget, the stock Futa is available for €7690 with FAS’s gruppo in place of the Super Record found on the Futa Limited. Ducati also has high-end mountain e-bikes on offer that are worthwhile checking out.
As the e-bike market continues to grow, we will more than likely see brands outside the industry, like Ducati, testing the potential of the high-end e-bike market. Mercedes has already rolled out a number of e-bikes this year in cooperation with the manufacturer N+bikes, and we could see them attempt a version of the Ducati Futa sometime in the future.
