Marianne Vos (Team Jumbo-Visma) outsprinted Charlotte Kool (Team DSM) in stage 3 of the Vuelta Femenina to take victory and retain the leader’s jersey. Chloé Dygert (Canyon-SRAM) repeated her performance from the day before by taking a well-deserved third place.
The day was a windy one with echelons forming and many riders getting caught out. By the finish, only 29 riders were in the first group. Trek-Segafredo lost the most time when they made the decision to drop back for their GC contender, Gaia Realini, who was gapped early on in the crosswinds. In the end, the entire team finished 2:41 or more behind the first group.
Tomorrow’s stage 4 is a flat route of 133.1 km running from Cuenca to Guadalajara.
