Niamh Fisher-Black (Team SD Worx) won stage 4 of the Tour de Suisse while her teammate Marlen Reusser secured the overall victory.
Rounding out the GC podium was Demi Vollering (Team SD Worx) in 2nd and Elisa Longo Borghini (Trek-Segafredo) in 3rd. Kasia Niewiadoma (Canyon-SRAM), finished 4th, seven seconds off the podium.
While SD Worx won the stage and overall GC, Kasia Niewiadoma (Canyon-SRAM) was the star of the day, attacking halfway through 100.8km stage and distancing Marlen Reusser by 2:30″ at one point to become virtual GC leader on the road.
Reusser saved her GC lead with a solo attack that saw her go into time trial mode for several laps and close the almost 2 minute gap to Niewiadoma: “It was not a good situation. It was just Demi and me left, and Demi was riding on the front without any help, so I thought [it] best is to go on the offensive.”
At the finish, Reusser was only 37 seconds down on Niewiadoma and Fisher-Black and secured the GC victory by 1:02 over teammate Demi Vollering.
