Tour de Suisse Women Stage 3: It’s 1-2 for Canyon/SRAM’s Bradbury and Niewiadoma

Neve Bradbury (Canyon-SRAM) and her teammate and breakaway companion Kasia Niewiadoma, finished first and second on stage 3 of the Tour de Suisse Women on Monday. Femke de Vries (Visma-Lease a Bike) followed in third place after outsprinting Amanda Spratt (Lidl-Trek).

Bradbury explained afterwards that the team’s plan was to win the stage by making it hard. “It’s crazy, I didn’t think at the start of today that I would be winning this stage. We really wanted to make it a hard race and win the stage, that’s what we did, it’s great. The plan was to let me get the win to get the bonus seconds for GC, it would have been nice to give Kasia the win because she was really strong out there.”

Demi Vollering and her team SD Worx-Protime had their hands full in trying to control the stage and keep the yellow jersey.

“Yes, actually I was a bit panicky,” said Vollering afterwards. “It was a strong leading group. We were not there ourselves and that was a shame. We would have liked to be at the front ourselves, but my teammates then controlled the ride. They did that very well. It’s a shame that we weren’t in the mix ourselves, but all in all we can call it a good day. We did well, even though it was still a bit tricky.”
