Giulio Ciccone (Trek-Segafredo) hung on to win stage 8 of the Critérium du Dauphiné ahead of Jonas Vingegaard (Jumbo-Visma) and Adam Yates (UAE Team Emirates).
Vingegaard and Yates made a late surge but fell short of catching Ciccone who was the last rider left from a breakaway that had escaped up the road early in the 152.8km race.
The overall GC was claimed by Vingegaard, who finished 2:23 ahead of Yates and 2:56 ahead of Ben O’Connor (AG2R Citroën Team).
