Jonas Vingegaard (Jumbo-Visma) rode away from the competition on stage 5 of the Critérium du Dauphiné and took over the GC lead from fellow Dane, Mikkel Bjerg (UAE Team Emirates).
The remains of the peloton, 31 seconds down, were led in by Julian Alaphilippe (Soudal-QuickStep) and Tobias Johannesen (Uno-X), who rounded out the podium for second and third.
Vingegaard now leads the race by 1:10 going into Friday’s mountain stage, 170.5km from Nantua to Crest-Voland.
