The UCI World Cup Cyclo-Cross season in Europe will be getting into full swing when riders return from the first two events that took place recently in the U.S. on Oct. 9th in Waterloo, WI. and on Oct. 16 in Fayetteville, AR. So far, the top spots in the men’s events have been dominated by Belgian riders, while the Dutch have dominated in the women’s events.
In the Men’s Elite, Eli Iserbyt (Belgium) won both races, as did Fem van Empel (Netherlands) in the Elite Women’s races. Overall, American riders put in a very good perfomance, with Eric Brunner taking a 4th place in Fayetteville, and Clara Hossinger finishing 7th in Waterloo. Brunner’s 4th place in Fayetteville was an especially remarkable achievement for being the highest placing achieved by an American in an Elite Men’s World Cup cyclo-cross event.
There are 12 events remaining in Europe, the first of which will take place in the Czech Republic on October 23, and the last in Besancon, France on Jan. 29, 2023. Belgium will host five of the remaining events and the Netherlands will host two. Events will be televised in the USA on GCN, in Canada on Flo Bikes, and in Europe on Eurosport. For other regions, please see the UCI world broadcast guide for locations and providers.
Additionally, the Telenet Super Prestige Cyclocross series will begin on Oct. 29, 2022 and run until Feb. 11, 2023. All eight events will take place in Belgium and have been scheduled on days before the World Cup events or during the Christmas holiday week to avoid any scheduling conflicts. Look for many riders to be racing in both the Telenet series and World Cup series, especially on October 29+30, Nov. 11+13, November 19+20, Dec. 3+4, Dec. 26-28, and Jan. 7+8.
