Lorena Wiebes (Team SD Worx) took stage 1 of the Vuelta a Burgos Feminas on Thursday ahead of Elisa Balsamo (Trek-Segafredo) and Chloé Dygert (Canyon-SRAM).
The final 500 meters of the sprint was a bit chaotic as riders jockeyed for position, but in the end Wiebes showed she was strongest and prevailed. Runner-up Balsamo had a good leadout from teammate Lucinda Brand, but was unable to make it stick. Chloé Dygert once again showed the good form she had at the La Vuelta Femenina by finishing a strong 3rd.
