Tour de France Femmes Stage 6: Cédrine Kerbaol soloes to victory

Kerbaol said afterwards that she really wanted to do something on stage 6, but just needed to wait for the right moment.

“I was motivated to do something for a few days and felt really good on the climbs. I often attack too quickly, but this time I waited and immediately felt that it was the right breakaway. There were a few attacks and I knew it was possible to ride away on the descent. From the moment I had a gap, it was a time trial to the finish. I’ve never won such a big race, I didn’t even come close. So I’m very happy with that.”

Demi Vollering (SD Worx-Protime) was satisfied with her ride after crashing and losing the yellow jersey the day before on stage 5.

“I am definitely happy how it went today. It wasn’t too bad with the injuries I suffered in the crash a day earlier. I am happy that it went well. Fortunately, this ride was not too tough. I survived this day well. In the final I did have to close a gap a few times. That went without any problems. I am confident that the next two days in the Alps will go well. In any case, I am very keen to take back the yellow jersey. Maybe even more than if I hadn’t lost the yellow on Thursday. Although I also feel that Kasia Niewiadoma has also made a move. It’s going to be a great battle. I’m looking forward to it.”
