(Puck Pieterse and her gold medal from the European Cyclo-Cross Championships, November 2022.)
Puck Pieterse soloed to victory Saturday in round #10 of the UCI World Cup Cyclo-Cross at the ski resort of Val di Sole, Italy. Against the mountain snowscape, the 20-year-old Pieterse motored off the front early and finished 44 seconds ahead of teammate Ceylin del Carmen Alvarado. Behind in third place was Manon Bakker at 1:26.
The expected rivalry between Puck Pieterse and Fem van Empel never materialized due to a crash early in the race that left van Empel requiring medical assistance. No fractures were reported, but the team will have her examined when she is back home in the Netherlands.
