Remco Evenepoel won stage 7 of the Tour de Suisse on Saturday, paying tribute to Gino Mäder as he rolled across the line and pointed up to the sky. The peloton rode the 170km stage much like Friday’s neutral stage as a tribute to Gino Mäder with no one attacking until the peloton passed the 25km to go marker.
Wout van Aert (Jumbo-Visma) led the peloton in for second, followed by Bryan Coquard (Cofidis).
Sunday’s final stage will be a hilly time trial of 25.7km that may not favor Evenepoel who is in 4th place, 46″ behind GC leader Mattias Skjelmose (Trek-Segafredo).
