It was a 1-2-3 sweep for team SD Worx in stage 2 of the Lotto Thüringen Ladies Tour on Wednesday. SD Worx rider Mischa Bredewold soloed to victory, followed by teammates Barbara Guarischi and Lorena Wiebes who led in the peloton 13″ later.
SD Worx’s dominance was not surprising. In the Women’s World Tour (WWT), SD Worx riders occupy the top 4 positions, as well as the the top position in team rankings. Much like Jumbo/Visma, whose motto is “Samen Winnen” (Win Together), SD Worx has a very strong team work ethic that has helped it dominate women’s cycling this season.
Bredewold confirmed afterwards that SD Worx’s goals for the race will also include winning the team classification. “We also want to win the final classification with the team. The jersey is now in our hands and we will try to keep it. I will try to do everything I can to do that.”
